THE NEED

Immediate: $2000/month (also in the form of one-time gifts)
Perpetual: Individuals and Churches who see the need for greater theological training among men within the context of the local church. Partnership to ensue so that young men can be qualified and commissioned to receive training at the Pastor's Seminar by their local church, with a view to plant or revitalize a church.

Studies at the Southern Seminary have a cost. Not only financially, but also physically, spiritually, and chronologically. I could pursue planting a church at this point in my life. I could even pursue an Associate Pastor position at the church. However, the need to have solid theological training is immense and undeniable.

We expect the surgeon to have gone through only the most rigorous training. We expect the same from the lawyer who defends us in a court of law - we would have assumed he knew law and defense within the parameters of the law. But it seems that so much of the church has settled for pragmatism and business models rather than the sound doctrine offered to us in the Bible. Devotional sermons have replaced deep reflection at the river of God's Word. Pat answers have been given to those longing for solid truth for which they could sink their teeth into.
